Nominations are closed for the 2023 Excellence in Governance Awards

The nominations for the Governance Professionals of Canada's 2023 Excellence in Governance Awards/Prix d'excellence en gouvernance (EGAs) is cllosed!

The EGAs recognize the important contribution that organizations, their Boards and Governance Professionals make in terms of best practices, that build and sustain stakeholder value in Canada.

The submission methodology and criteria has been updated to allow for a more inclusive and open process, so as to encourage more organizations to participate. GPC invites all Canadian organizations from all sectors to take this opportunity to gain recognition for their innovative governance practices and to be celebrated for their accomplishments.

The award categories reflect the current governance environment and the challenges faced by organizations in ensuring they remain sustainable and innovative in a rapidly evolving landscape. The awards also focus on the Board’s and the Governance Professional’s roles in adding value to their organization.

The deadline for nominations is June 30, 2023, and the shortlist of finalists for the awards will be announced in September 2023. The 2022 award winners will be announced and celebrated on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, in Toronto, ON.

We encourage companies of all sizes, sectors and industries (listed, private, public, crown, not for profit, co-op, etc.) to take part, as the EGAs are designed to recognize excellence across all organizations

How to Submit a Nomination

Create an Account and Log in.
Nominate yourself, your team, or your peer(s). Start by providing the award category being applied for and all necessary contact information.
Select the Category you would like to sumit.
Provide an executive summary. For all categories the nominee must submit an executive summary outlining achievements and addressing each specific criteria as outlined in the nomination brief. The summary must include a description not only on the specific criteria but must explain why the company/individual/program is unique and what makes it “the best.” This should include a narrative of not only what was done but “how” and “why”. The judging panel requires a clear and consistent explanation of what differentiates the nominee from its peers. The executive summary is limited to 750 words.
Upload supporting materials. If including supporting materials please direct judges to specific sections/pages that best support your submission. Be as accurate, specific and brief as possible.
Provide nominee consent. Complete, sign, and submit the entry form. You may nominate yourself or an organization other than your own. In either case, the executive summary needs to be submitted as described above, including the relevant supporting materials. If a nomination is submitted for another organization or individual(s) and the nominating party wishes to remain anonymous, please make a note of this on the summary form and GPC will follow up with the nominee(s) directly for their consent and materials.
Review Nomination Form. If you wish to add to your nomination form at some later point click save. You will no longer be able to edit your nomination once you click SUBMIT.
SUBMIT. When you are finished, save your form again and click SUBMIT. You will no longer be able to edit your nomination once you click SUBMIT
Repeat the above steps for each entry you have.

About the Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC)

The Governance Professionals of Canada (GPC) is the voice of Corporate Secretaries and governance professionals in Canada. Its members deal with disclosure and matters affecting corporate governance, including the structure and meetings of the board of directors and its committees, the proxy process and annual meetings. As such GPC strives to provide valuable and timely information on recent changes and developments which affect our members – in all sectors.
